The Columbia Open Studios 2024: A Vibrant Celebration of Art in the Midlands!
March 13, 2024
Hello, Mill District friends and neighbors! It’s that time of the year again when our vibrant city becomes a sprawling, dynamic art gallery. Get ready for the Columbia Open Studios 2024, the largest art event in the Midlands, presented by the 701 Center for Contemporary Art (701 CCA).
On March 23rd, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and March 24th, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, our city will come alive with creativity and color as local artists open their studios for this self-guided, weekend-long tour. This exceptional event offers a unique opportunity to explore the workspaces of our local artists, learn about their techniques, and draw inspiration from their creations.
One of the standout participants this year is our very own blacksmith artist from the Mill District, Jason Jaco with TexasStreetWorks and Philip Simmons Artist Blacksmith Guild. Bringing the timeless craft of blacksmithing into the contemporary art scene, Jason’s work is a testament to the diversity and dynamism of the artistic talent we have right here in our neighborhood.
The Columbia Open Studios is more than just an art event. It’s a significant economic driver for our region. By attracting thousands of art enthusiasts to our city, it supports local artists, stimulates our local businesses, and contributes to the overall vibrancy and vitality of our community.
In essence, the Columbia Open Studios serves as a platform for artists to showcase their talent, for art lovers to discover new pieces, and for all of us to celebrate the rich tapestry of creativity that makes the Midlands such an exciting place to live, work, and create.
So, mark your calendars, invite your friends, and prepare to be inspired by the extraordinary talent of our local artists. Let’s explore, engage, and enjoy the Columbia Open Studios 2024 together!
