Mill District Parks
June 7, 2024
With the weather warming up and summer quickly approaching, there is no better way to have some fun in the sun than at one of the Mill District’s three parks. All three of the parks are the perfect space to spend time with family and friends, enjoy the great summer weather, and take in the beautiful scenery found in the Mill District.
Granby Park
Come enjoy the summer sun in the Mill District’s own urban forest! Granby is nestled on the banks of the Congaree River and is part of greater Columbia’s Three Rivers Greenway. The paved trails throughout the park make it a great and safe trail for family strolls. There are also benches and picnic tables throughout the park so you can stop and take in the scenery.
Granby is also home to the Mill District’s community garden. You can reserve a bed through the City of Columbia and get your hands dirty tending your plot alongside your neighbors. Community gardens serve as a great way for kids and adults to learn about gardening, nature, and different types of plants.

Olympia Park
Olympia is a great park for kids to let off some steam. The park’s big playground makes it the perfect place to spend an afternoon or even to have an outdoor party. Olympia Park also has plenty of picnic tables and shade trees so it’s a great place to have a family picnic. The park is centrally located right near the Olympia and Granby Mills apartments and 701 Whaley and along the banks of Rocky Branch Creek where you might even catch a glimpse of an urban deer herd!

Pacific Park
Pacific is another centrally located park right across the street from 701 Whaley and the Olympia and Granby Mills apartments. Pacific Park is also home to the community center where many events are held throughout the year. The park also has a baseball field, basketball courts, and hand-painted picnic tables. It’s a fun place to play a couple of games or brush up on your sports skills.
Since the park is in such a great location, you can go for a bite to eat at some of the best restaurants in Columbia. Banh Mi Boys, Village Idiot Pizza, and Enzo’s Sputino are all within walking distance of Pacific Park!
